Introduction

Baseball Mechanics (“the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a mobile application that uses artificial intelligence to analyze baseball pitching, hitting, and catching mechanics. Many of the players analyzed in this App are children, and we treat that as the central fact of this policy rather than a footnote.

This policy explains what we collect, where it is stored, who processes it, and what you can do about it. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide at Setup

1.2 Account

The App creates an account for you. If you provide an email address you receive a cloud account (sign-in by one-time code; we never see or store a password). If you do not provide one, the App signs you in anonymously — a random identifier with no personal information attached to it.

We do not collect passwords, payment card numbers, government ID numbers, or precise location.

1.3 Video Frames You Submit for Analysis

You select a video from your device and the App extracts still frames at specific mechanical positions. Those still images — not the original video — are sent to our server for AI analysis, and they are not retained after the analysis completes. We never receive or store the original video file, and there is no library, archive, or training set of user video anywhere in our systems.

Please do not capture frames containing people other than the player being analyzed.

1.4 Analysis and Session History

Your analysis results (mechanics scores, identified strengths and weaknesses, recommended drills) are stored on your device. If you have a cloud account, they are also stored on our servers so they are available across your devices and over time.

1.5 Recruiting Profile (optional)

If you choose to create one: position, graduation year, school, state, height, weight, bats/throws, and your mechanics scores. See Section 4 for who can see it. This feature is switched off entirely for players under 13 and cannot be turned on.

1.6 Team Data (optional)

If a coach creates a team, we store the roster and the members’ mechanics scores so the coach can see team-level progress.

1.7 Subscription Status

If you purchase a subscription, we store whether you have an active subscription and which one. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we never see or store your payment details.

1.8 Diagnostic Information

If the App hits a technical error we receive a report containing the error, the screen it happened on, your OS and app version, and your name and email if you provided one. Used only to fix bugs; never sold, and never used for marketing.

1.9 What We Do NOT Collect

2. How We Use Your Information

Information How It Is Used
Name, age, role Personalizing and age-calibrating analysis reports
Email address Signing you in, syncing your data across devices, sending your results PDF, support
Video frames Processed by AI to produce your mechanics analysis, then discarded
Analysis history Showing progress over time; team and recruiting features you opt into
Recruiting profile Shown to coaches and recruiters only at the visibility level you chose
Subscription status Unlocking paid features and enforcing usage limits
Diagnostics Fixing crashes and bugs

We do not:

3. Who Processes Your Information

Processor What it handles Where
Anthropic, PBCprivacy The video frames, for AI analysis. Not retained by Anthropic for training. US
Supabase, Inc.privacy Our cloud database: your account, profile, analysis history, recruiting and team data. US
Render Services, Inc.privacy Backend hosting; your requests pass through it. US
RevenueCat, Inc.privacy Subscription status. No payment details. US
Apple / Google Payment processing for subscriptions. We never receive your payment details. US
Google (Gmail)privacy Delivering results emails and diagnostic reports. US

We may also disclose information where required by law, or where necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.

4. Recruiting Profile Visibility — You Control This

If you create a recruiting profile, you choose who can see it:

You can change the visibility or delete the profile at any time. Lowering the visibility immediately stops it being served at the higher level.

5. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

Baseball Mechanics is used to analyze children, and we designed this section on the assumption that the player is a minor unless we know otherwise.

5.1 Date of birth is required

We ask for the player’s date of birth at setup and it cannot be skipped; we use it to calculate the player’s age. Whether a player is under 13 is determined from this date of birth, and that determination is calculated and enforced on our servers, not left to the app alone. If we cannot establish a player’s age, we apply the stricter treatment, not the looser one — an unknown age is treated as a child.

If the player is under 13, the account can only be set up by a parent or legal guardian. Setup does not activate the account. Instead:

  1. The guardian provides their own email address, which becomes the owner of the account and must be verified by a one-time code we email at sign-in.
  2. We then email that address a unique, single-use confirmation link. The account stays locked and cannot be used until the guardian clicks it. Clicking the link is the guardian’s verifiable consent, and we record the date and time it occurred.
  3. Shortly after, we send a second confirmation email to the same address, which also contains a link to withdraw consent at any time.

This “email-plus” process is a verifiable parental consent method permitted under COPPA because a child’s information in this App is never disclosed publicly — every under-13 player is restricted to coach-only visibility (see Section 5.1). Until a guardian completes step 2, no analysis, profile, or other data for that player is used beyond what is strictly necessary to hold the pending account.

5.3 Under-13 players are never published

For any player under 13, recruiter and public visibility are switched off and cannot be turned on. Their recruiting profile can be shared with the coaches of their own team and no further. It is never listed in recruiter search, never returned by discovery, and never reachable by a public link. This is enforced in the App and independently enforced again on our server, so it cannot be bypassed by a modified client.

5.4 Marketing

We do not send marketing email to children. The only address on an under-13 account is the guardian’s, and it receives product-update email only if the guardian themselves opted in.

5.5 Parental rights

A parent or guardian may review or delete their child’s data at any time by emailing mechanicssupport@gmail.com from the guardian address on the account. We respond within 30 days. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we delete it promptly. A guardian may also withdraw consent instantly using the link in the confirmation email, or from within the app’s pending-consent screen; doing so locks and then deletes the child’s account and data. —

6. Data Retention

Data Retention
Video frames Not retained. Discarded as soon as the analysis is generated.
Account, profile, analysis history Kept until you delete your account or ask us to delete it.
Recruiting profile Kept until you delete it or delete your account.
Team data Kept while the team exists.
Local data on your device Removed when you uninstall the App. Cloud data is not — uninstalling does not delete your account; email us to do that.
Diagnostic reports Up to 12 months, then deleted.

7. Data Security

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Everyone:

California residents (CCPA): you may know what we collect, request deletion, and opt out of sale — we do not sell personal information — without being discriminated against for exercising these rights.

EEA / UK residents (GDPR): you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability. Our legal bases are consent (email, marketing, recruiting publication), contract (delivering the analysis you asked for), and legitimate interest (diagnostics and security). Where the user is a child, consent is given by the holder of parental responsibility.

To exercise any of these, contact mechanicssupport@gmail.com.

The App contains no third-party advertising and no tracking pixels. AI-generated analysis may refer to professional baseball generally; no MLB, team, or player affiliation, endorsement, or partnership is implied or exists.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. When we do we revise the “Last Updated” date above. If a change materially affects how we collect or use personal information, we will notify users in the App.
